The short version

What is Nebbiolo?

Nebbiolo makes Barolo and Barbaresco in Piedmont. Its name may refer to nebbia, the fog that settles over the region during harvest. The wines can evolve for decades.

Rose petals, sour cherry, red licorice, tar, anise, and truffle are classic. High acidity and tannin can surprise anyone judging by its translucent color; food and air help young bottles relax.
