The short version

What is Petite Sirah?

Petite Sirah is the American name commonly used for Durif, a cross involving Syrah and Peloursin. California's old-vine examples are especially known for intensity, color, and longevity.

Blackberry, blueberry, plum, black pepper, chocolate, and violet are typical. Dense fruit can soften the impression of substantial tannin, but young bottles often benefit from food and air.
